James Madison University Alternative Fuels Program

Introduction

The Team 2003-2004 Alternative Fuel Program members.

The Alternative Fuel Program conducts applied research, education, and outreach. Our research focal points include characterizing truck driver choices and behaviors, evaluating advanced heavy-vehicle technologies and fuels, and quantifying the environmental and energy aspects of transportation technologies and policies. Undergraduate participation in applied research and projects is a fundamental component of our effort, and students work closely with a variety of organizations including City of Harrisonburg, Shenandoah National Park, and graduate students at other institutions. Surveys, simulation modeling, and statistical analysis are among the tools we employ. We are also actively involved in outreach efforts to K-12 students and the general public. Our activities are supported by multiple government and industries entities
