IA 342. Visualization Methods, Technologies And Tools For Information Analysis:
Data visualization presents laboratory or simulation data or the results from sensors out in the field in a way aids reasoning about and hypothesis building in complex data sets. This course will apply data visualization technologies and tools to timely data sets from business, industry and government. The course is team oriented, project based and grounded in the relevant legal and ethical context.
Learning Objectives:
Students will develop the knowledge and skills to:
- describe different data visualization tools and compare and contrast the use of these tools in creating information from data
- use spreadsheet-based tools to create data visualizations from numerical data
- use remote sensing imagery and tools to identify spatial patterns and predict future development
- use geographic information systems to create maps and analyze spatial data
- visualize non-numerical data in pictorial format
- present research results in standard IC and CI written and oral formats
Course Outline:
