Dr. Coffman teaches in the Biotechnology Sector and is involved in several research projects of the Biomanufacturing Laboratory in cooperation with labs of the U.S. Army and the University of Virginia.

Cloning and eukaryotic cell expression of genes from viruses and organisms commonly thought of as potential bioterrorist agents, with characterization of those proteins.
