AGIS
Students in the AGIS concentration explore spatial and temporal dynamics of interactions between humans and the environment using Geographic Information Systems, Remote Sensing, GPS, and Digital Cartography.
More specifically, students in the AGIS concentration acquire theoretical, practical, and technical knowledge and skills in areas such as:
- Design and execution of quantitative research projects
- Use of GPS field units and creation of data dictionaries
- Thematic mapping using automated approaches
- Design, implementation, and management of Geographic Information Systems
- Visual and digital analysis and interpretation of satellite imagery and aerial photography
JMU students with an AGIS concentration have successfully pursued graduate degrees, gained professional employment with the government and industry, and started their own businesses. The list of employers of our graduates is extensive and includes agencies or companies such as:
