The Shenandoah Valley Air Quality Initiative
Three higher education institutions in the Commonwealth of Virginia, James Madison University (JMU), Virginia Tech (VT), and the University of Virginia (UVA), work collaboratively to support the Shenandoah Valley Air Quality Initiative [link to NSVRC]. Our work includes multiple areas identified by the
stakeholders: pollution transport and source modeling, improved monitoring and control strategies, societal impact modeling, decision support tool implementation, expansion of real-time dissemination and forecast capability, and outreach and education. The principal investigator(s) from the university alliance include Robert Davis and Jerry Stenger (UVA); Lindsey Marr and Lisa Schweitzer (VT); Christie-Joy Brodrick and Jim Giraytys (JMU). Supporting research has been provided by Gene Tucker, Steve Frysinger, and Michael Deaton (JMU); Sean McGinnis (VT); and, Jeff Basara (University of Oklahoma).
Brief descriptions of the science investigations are provided on each of the pages on the right navigation bar.
